The Areopagus Center is organizing a new episode of the series "Faith and Profession." In the first meeting, Silviu Rogobete, PhD, Associate Professor at West University of Timisoara teaching on Foundations and Human Rights, will reflect on the roots of the concept of "right" and "law," helping us understand them within the Christian tradition.
Some of our guest speakers are Cristi Danilet, Judge and member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (26.11) and Prof. Stefan Deaconu, PhD, Law School of Bucharest, former Director of the Legal Department of the Romanian Presidency (11.12 ).

Special Event at Areopagus: Lord Griffiths of Fforestfach

Thursday, April 10, The Areopagus Center in Timisoara is honored to have as guest speaker Lord GRIFFITHS of FFORESTFACH. The event is organized under the “Faith and Profession” Project and is part of a series of events focused on “Political Sciences and Communication”. The meeting will be moderated by Dr. Silviu Rogobete (West University of Timisoara).
Lord Griffiths joined Goldman Sachs as an international advisor in 1991. He is a member of the Boards of Goldman Sachs International and Goldman Sachs International Bank. He is chairman of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Audit, Business Practice and Compliance Committee of the board of Goldman Sachs International.
Lord Griffiths started his professional career in academia; he taught at the London School of Economics from 1965 to 1976 and was appointed professor of Banking and International Finance at the City University in 1976. He was Dean of the City University Business School from 1982 to 1985. Lord Griffiths was a Director of the Bank of England from 1982 to 1985.
From 1985 to 1990, Lord Griffiths served at No. 10 Downing Street as Head of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit. As special advisor to Margaret Thatcher, he was responsible for domestic policy-

He has also been chairman of the School Examination and Assessment Council, the Centre for Policy Studies, and he has been a member of various Select Committees in the House of Lords. He is at present a member of the Select Committee on Economic Affairs. Lord Griffiths was for many years Chairman of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lambeth Fund. He is Chairman of Christian Responsibility in Public Affairs. He has written and lectured extensively on economic issues and the relationship of the Christian faith to politics and business, and has published various books on monetary policy and Christian ethics.
Born in Fforestfach, Swansea in 1941, Lord Griffiths was educated at Dynevor Grammar School and the London School of Economics.

The Areopagus Center in Timisoara will be the host of Her Excellency Mrs. Tenjiwe Ethel Mtintso, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Romania. The visit will take place on Tuesday, 18th of March. Mrs. Mtintso took up her post in Romania at the beginning of this month, the visit in Timisoara being her first visit in the hosting country.
