Since September 1998, the Areopagus Centre began offering Romanian language courses. Later on, in January 1999 we started to organize the Romanian cultural courses twice a year, in order to help foreigners to better understand and integrate into our culture.
Approaching culture has always been a very complex matter. Moreover, Romanian culture is a culture in transition; although it holds a fixed nucleus, the major elements of culture are still very dynamic. Some of the obvious aspects of Romanian culture do not always point to their real meaning. Norms, values and principles need to be carefully traced and revealed out of their context. The religious roots of Romania, for example, run very deep and affect the mindset of even the most secularized people.
We can never claim that we can fully understand and explain culture, yet it is an honor for us to embark with you in this adventure, trying to unveil the many facets of Romanian culture and hopefully in this way helping you to enjoy living in Romania.
