About our library

At your disposal are rich library resources from a wide range of disciplines, including: theology, biblical exegesis, classical languages, philosophy, psychology, sociology, political science, history, and literature.

All 46,000 volumes are classified by subject. The library is open stack. Books can be researched on the computer.

Recent additions from the most prestigious Romanian publishers: Humanitas, Polirom, Univers, Univers enciclopedic, All, IRI, Amarcord, Nemira, Pontica, Deisis, Editura Institului Biblic si de Misiune al B.O.R, Cartea Crestina, Ed. Trei, Logos, etc.

We also periodically acquire titles from major foreign publishers: T&T Clark, InterVarsity Press, Oxford Univ. Press, Eerdmans, SPCK, Apollos, Routledge, Paternoster, Cambridge Univ. Press, Baker. Library patrons may borrow 3 books at a time for a period of 2 weeks, with a 2-week renewal. The registration fee is 25 RON/year for students, 35 RON/year for employed persons.

There is also the posibility of a one-day access card that allows our clients to use the library resources and the reading room for 5 RON/zi.

Library Policies

One may borrow three books at a time. Books are loaned for a period of two weeks and, except when the books are reserved, may be renewed on request, one time, for a total of four weeks. Renewal can be requested by phone, e-mail, or in person at the library desk.

If a desired volume is already on loan, on request it may be put on the reserve list and may not be renewed. When the book is returned, the person requesting it will be informed and must come to pick up the book within two weeks.

Materials that cannot be checked out are books designated reference (those with a red dot or green stripe on the spine label) and periodicals. Likewise, books reserved for Areopagus Centre courses (those with a yellow stripe on the spine label) will be available primarily to students enrolled in the course, for a period of three days, and cannot be renewed, with the fine doubled if the book is not returned on time.

Lookups can be made on the computer, since all library materials are inventoried in a database with a number of possibilities for lookup-by author, by title, by subject, by editor-so that you can thus find the books you need.

If you take books from the library shelves but do not check them out, please leave them on one of the tables in the reading room or in the library. This will help us to keep the books in order so that you can always find them in the right place on the shelf.

To register for a library card, you must present your identity card and, for a student rate, your student ID; pay the annual fee; and respect the library rules.
